A Boat Review written by Tom Dove in SAIL magazine stated, "On a breezy day in smooth water, the Beneteau 40.1 was exceptionally easy to handle, steadily returning 7.5 knots of boatspeed close-hauled in 15 knots of wind. On reaches, we topped 8 knots. A Beneteau representative explained that the double-chined hull submerges as a V shape when heeled, resulting in straight tracking. Whatever the cause, the helm stayed nearly neutral on all the courses as well as in the puffs while still returning gentle feedback that made steering a pleasure."

Mainsail Is TECHNIVOILE (42m²), Furling Genoa TECHNIVOILE (27m²), Gennaker "CODE 0" (115m²). Due to roller furling sails and properly sized winches, this vessel is easily sailed shorthanded. The rig is large and powerful and allows for a good turn of speed under sail. Sail surface upwind (close-hauled) is an impressive 70m². 

Exterior Design
How can you enjoy life at anchor as much as sailing? With the innovative flared hull design of the Oceanis 40.1, and steps extending over a third of the bow, BENETEAU has broken new ground but made no concessions. The result is a hull that has true speed potential and is stiff under sail. Above the waterline, her deck plan and ultra-spacious interior by Nauta Design is unheard of on a boat this size. You cannot help feeling that you are aboard a 45 foot cruiser!

Interior Design
With a walnut ALPLI veneered and white laminated panels, the styling of the interior by Italian designers Nauta, is remarkably bright and excels in the skillful arrangement of the living spaces. She has a C-shaped galley on the starboard, offering lots of storage and a spacious worktop. On the port side, there is a large saloon with a table and a removable bench, and a chart table at the foot of the companionway provides ample working space. 

General State of the Ship

as recorded in the Survey by Mr. Philippe Kerrault, Marine Surveyor dated May 15th, 2023 was:

• Sailing ship less than a year old kept in nearly new condition.
• Owner's boat which crossed the Atlantic at the end of 2022 and then did not sail much in the Caribbean.
• The general state of the sailing ship is excellent.
• This ship left the shipyard BENETEAU in France less than one year ago.
• It is obvious that the present owner is very meticulous regarding the maintenance of their sailing ship.
• The vessel is well equipped for high sea sailing navigation. She is equipped with quality equipment which would allow for long navigations.
• The general aspect is very good, near new.
