Additional Information

Safely Forward

Wide 300mm (11.8”) walk-around side decks with well-placed 316 marine-grade stainless steel hand rails give easy access to her expansive foredeck – a real entertainment zone onboard with two weather-proof speakers located under the windscreen brow and connected to the main saloon stereo system so the whole yacht can party together.

The upholstered double sun pad has an innovative folding bimini for respite from the sun, as well as adjustable back rests to ensure your complete comfort.

The anchoring system and ground tackle onboard the 5400 is comprehensive. Within the anchor lockers you will find both fresh and seawater wash-down facilities, as well as rope and chain divider and winch with hand-held remote. The 70m (230ft) of anchor chain is 10mm (3/8”) in thickness and galvanised, and there’s a chain-stopper and anchor safety strap fitted to the deck.

The self-loading bow roller and 35kg (77lbs) Ultra Anchor are, of course, 316 marine-grade stainless steel, as is all the deck hardware including bow rail, the eight 11-inch cleats, two pop-up fender cleats and, of course, the fender holders.

Stepping inside

As you slide open the glass saloon door, set in a strong, highly polished stainless steel frame built into the rear bulkhead, you will immediately sense that the Riviera design team has created a luxurious yacht that is both welcoming and expansive, and designed to deliver all the delights of a lavish and contemporary life afloat.

Immediately to starboard is the aft gourmet galley – a generous and efficient U-space just off to the side of the fore and aft traffic. Here, cockpit connectivity is cultivated with a wide glass awning window that opens out and up to bring the outdoors (and entertainment) inside, and places the chef right in the heart of the party.

The 5400’s galley features the very latest in premium appliances and conveniences, complemented by varnished cabinetry with positive locking hardware for the drawers and cupboards.

All drawers throughout the yacht feature Blum stainless steel, soft-close runners and the galley has the same hard-wearing, high-quality timber finish flooring used in all high-traffic areas of the yacht – through the saloon and down to the accommodation deck atrium – which ensures practicality in terms of wet or sandy feet.

The galley’s warm heart is a stainless steel cooking array comprising a combination microwave/convection oven, electric dual-element cooktop and stainless steel sink set within the solid surface bench top. Breakfast bar stools can be located forward of the galley bench space, if you so desire.

To port there’s a cocktail cabinet with dual refrigeration featuring low-maintenance, stainless steel drawers, as well as a wine cooler and glass and bottle storage. Forward and to port is a large L-shaped leather lounge with highly varnished dinette, with the option of an electric-lift hi-lo table which can be converted to a day bed.

Air-conditioning is standard to both the saloon and galley however natural breezes can be easily captured through the hardtop’s electric sliding glass sunroof and also through sliding tinted and toughened glass side windows to port and starboard.

The entertainment system in the main living area includes a massive 40” LED television on an electric swing with Blue-ray player and surround sound audio system with five speakers to the saloon.

Retire to your private retreat

The 5400 accommodation deck is extremely intelligent in its design and ensures complete comfort for you and your guests. In each stateroom there is plush pile carpeting with soft underlay and reverse cycle air-conditioning.

The full-beam master stateroom amidships features a king-sized walk-around bed with premium innerspring mattress and feature timber headboard.

Sweeping, fixed and tinted hull windows on both sides of the master stateroom draw in plenty of natural light while fresh air is introduced through opening portholes that are alarmed to the helm in the event they are left open.

There are his and hers cedar hanging lockers with automatic lighting to port and starboard, with additional cabinetry to port and a private lounge to starboard.

Entertainment in the master stateroom is via a 32-inch LED TV and premium entertainment system, including two speakers and iPod interface.

The master ensuite is located forward and to port and boasts a contemporary design with luxurious fixtures, including solid surface bench top, premium-grade flooring, vanity mirror, large-scale, frameless glass shower stall, extraction fan, quiet-operation Dometic toilet system with low water consumption, as well as plenty of storage shelving under the sink.

The VIP guest stateroom forward features a queen-sized walk-around island bed with innerspring mattress with upholstered headboard and storage underneath. There is a large cedar-lined hanging locker to port and further storage with shelves to starboard, as well as outboard cabinetry with positive locking hardware.

The VIP guest stateroom has a private entrance to the ensuite which, with its two-way entry, also serves as the dayhead.

Entertainment to the VIP guest stateroom is via a 24” LED TV with DVD entertainment system including iPod interface and two speakers.

Fixed hull windows bring in natural light, complementing the fresh air introduced through the overhead deck hatch. Of course, the hatch and hull windows can all be screened for privacy.

The port-side guest stateroom features adult-sized upper and lower berths with cedar-lined hanging locker, soft padded hull and headlinings as well as an overhead hatch for fresh air.

This space can also be a lower lounge, if desired.

Take the helm

The sports-inspired helm console of the 5400 Sport Yacht has excellent visibility and ergonomics so that all critical navigation electronics, comprehensive engine instrumentation and vessel controls are within easy reach of the central, deluxe Recaro electric adjusting helm seat.

This inspiring new model fittingly comes with a high-quality leather sports steering wheel, sunken backlit dash, ample storage compartments for binoculars, phone, iPad and instrument covers, as well as drink-holders and two 15-inch multi-function display screens, although there is enough room for two optional 17-inch display screens.

The standard air-conditioning to the saloon and galley has outlets to the windscreen to help prevent fogging. The windscreen itself is made of clear, curved and tempered glass set in a strong fibreglass frame and features three heavy-duty pantograph Hepworth windscreen wipers with stainless steel arms and freshwater washers. A windscreen cover is provided for privacy and sun protection whilst anchored or in a marina.

There is also designed-in access under the helm, ensuring easy and efficient servicing.

The power and technology are yours

Riviera is at the forefront of a marine propulsion revolution, having now launched hundreds of pod-driven luxury pleasure yachts.

Pods are used on such worldly form vessels as the Queen Mary II cruise ship as well as large-scale commercial craft. This proven technology is now available for pleasure yachts.

Pod drives offer an excellent power-to-weight ratio delivering improved performance, enhanced torque, improved fuel efficiency, simple maneuverability, reduced environmental impact and quiet operation thanks to under-water exhausts.

In simplified terms, Volvo Penta’s innovative Inboard Propulsion System (IPS) features twin pod drive units, each of which is capable of turning independently to provide the correct thrust to move the yacht in the exact direction required by the skipper easily controlling the system with either a steering wheel and throttles or a joystick.

The 5400 has a joystick at the helm and an additional joystick as standard in her cockpit so a skipper, either solo or with a novice crew, is able to simply push and twist the joystick and the yacht will respond immediately, pivoting in place or tracking sideways into a berth that’s just long enough to fit the yacht. In the 5400 Sport Yacht, owners have the option of having the cockpit joystick located on either the port or starboard sides.

IPS also offers a Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) for station-holding while preparing lines and fenders or while waiting off a fuel jetty, the convenience of Auto Pilot, manual trimming with optional auto-trim, as well as a highly-efficient Anti-Corrosion Protection (ACP) unit mounted to the transom to reduce the maintenance of sacrificial anodes.

The propellers are protected by the premium anti-foul coating Propspeed to achieve a long service life, as well as 316 marine-grade stainless steel line-cutters from Volvo Penta, located between the propellers for protection from ropes, fishing lines, plastic bags or nets. These precision-made line cutters create a very efficient rotating cutting action to protect the propellers and shaft sealing without increasing drag or fuel burn.

The 5400 Sport Yacht employs the revolutionary Volvo Penta propulsion system with twin IPS2-800 (2 x 441kW/626hp) D11 engines and pod drives as the standard package. This is a perfectly matched drive package for the 6000 and the system’s Class 4 commercial rating assures reliability and durability.

Additionally, the IPS2-800 package is fully certified under the Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL) classification system.

Window to the future

To give you total command of the 5400 Sport Yacht, Volvo Penta’s state-of-the-art Glass Cockpit navigation system blends new technology with dependability and practical functionality.

The Glass Cockpit system provides a very clean, easy-to-use system with enhanced overview and control of both engines and navigation, including GPS, sounder and radar, even auto-pilot and optional charts … and all in one place.

Integrated with the IPS Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) system, the Glass Cockpit gathers all driver information and displays it in one location. The easy-to-handle, pinch-to-zoom displays give you instant data and control. The ergonomic design and interface for the dashboard offers push-buttons on the controls and touch-buttons on the screens.

Just one clever feature of the Glass Cockpit is the unique Auto Guidance feature that searches through all relevant charts to create a route you can follow – and avoid shallow water, buoys and other obstacles. Coupled with the Auto Pilot, it not only shows the way, it can take you there.

The Glass Cockpit also features the option of full joystick steering whilst underway.

CZone simplicity

The fully integrated CZone digital switching system enhances the ease of monitoring and operation of the Riviera 5400’s onboard systems including tanks, and extends centralised, touch-screen control to lighting, pumps, batteries, entertainment systems and appliances.

CZone allows owners to operate multiple circuits at a single touch, energising all lighting and electrics depending on your requirements. It comes pre-programmed with three modes – “entertaining”, “cruising” and “dock unattended” – and these modes can be customised by the owner so the system works exactly how you want.

Other user-friendly features include interior light-dimming, timer controls, automated circuit control, wiper speed and wash functions. There’s also a “service” mode that shuts down all power and systems.

Based on industry-proven Controller Area Network (CAN) technology, the CZone system offers DC and AC switching and over-current protection. Full systems monitoring (with alarms) including AC voltage, current, frequency and kilowatts, DC voltage, current and remaining battery capacity, along with fluid tank levels and indication for systems in operation, is clearly displayed on the 3.5-inch touchscreen at the helm and 8.5-inch colour control screen at the saloon entrance. There’s also the option of additional iPad connectivity, so you can control CZone from anywhere onboard your yacht.

Engineering excellence

The flow-coated engine room – with acoustic and thermal insulation and LED lighting – highlights the careful consideration for which Riviera is renowned globally in terms of its engineering.

With two metres (6.6ft) of headroom, you’ll note that all through-hull fittings on or below the waterline are fitted with ball valves and are double hose-clamped. All metallic hull fittings below the waterline are bonded to zinc anodes, including galvanic isolators. Additionally, all the wiring is coded, numbered and pre-assembled in looms to ensure trouble-free maintenance and repairs.

On the 5400, you’ll find a tap and hose feeding from an 800-litre (211 US gal) freshwater tank, as well as a massive fuel capacity of 3000 litres (793 gallons), with the tank positioned centrally to ensure optimal balance. The fuel gauge is monitored at the helm via the Glass Cockpit system, and there’s also a sight gauge on each wing tank for manual inspection.

The impressive commercial air intake system helps to keep the engine room temperature well below the engine manufacturer’s formal recommendation, reducing fuel consumption even further, while the air-conditioning units are mounted high so gravity feeds condensation water into the common drain lines located on either side of the yacht and which drain aft and overboard.

All onboard drains also feed into these common drain lines while the advanced mist elimination system with veins draws moisture from the air and feeds directly overboard. Five automatic bilge pumps with manual override are located at various points throughout the hull and also pump directly overboard.

The main water intakes for the engines, generator and air-conditioning feature internal and external strainers while the fire suppression system for the engine room has both automatic and manual controls.

There’s even a dedicated space for a gyroscopic stabiliser on the centerline of the yacht under the garage – yet another example of how Riviera is embracing all innovations that make boating more enjoyable.

Electrical excellence

All batteries on board the 5400 Sport Yacht are maintenance-free to ensure carefree boating and are housed in special battery boxes in accordance with American Boating and Yacht Council (ABYC) and the European Union’s CE industry standards.

The 5400 has two starting battery banks comprising two batteries per bank for the port and starboard engines. The house battery bank comprises two batteries, and there are two batteries in the auxiliary bank. Individual alternators for each battery bank ensure charging systems are optimised whilst underway and an emergency parallel function provides increased reliability, in the event that you are faced with a flat start battery bank. All battery banks are isolated at the main battery panel in the cockpit.

The house power is 24-volt, which allows for simpler charging, lower current draw and smaller cables (further reduced weight) than equivalent 12-volt systems. The Mastervolt 2.5kW AC-DC inverter provides power to the icemaker, entertainment systems and all outlets onboard, ensuring watching television while relaxing quietly at anchor is whisper-quiet.

The air-conditioning, cooking appliances and many more comforts of home are powered by the Cummins Onan 13.5kW (75 Amp 50HZ) generator, which features a water separating muffler, sound shield, remote stop-start function, state-of-the-art diagnostics and hour meter. The generator’s integral mounting system greatly reduces vibration.

LED lighting is utilised throughout and provides trouble-free boating while reducing electrical current draw. The lamps use less than 10 per cent of the power required to run a bulb lamp – no bulbs mean no maintenance and long service life. Additionally, Residual Current Device/Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (RCD/GFCI) provides protection over the entire yacht and also complies with ABYC and CE standards for safer boating.

Impeccable Pedigree

The confident poise of the 5400 Sport Yacht is just as evident offshore as it is at anchor – her solid and robust hull with keel is the evolution of our rich 36-year heritage of building almost 5200 world-class luxury motor yachts that are proven in the sometimes challenging Australian offshore conditions.

Every Riviera built at our world-class facility on Australia’s Gold Coast combines superior-strength hand layups with a water-tight collision bulkhead forward and independent compartments throughout the hull.

Our legendary build quality also features vinylester resin in the outer layer of lamination to increase the ability to withstand water absorption. An isophthalic gelcoat exterior provides an impeccable and hard-wearing surface finish.

From the waterline down, the hull is solid GRP with reinforced bottom, keel and chines. Structural core material is used in the hull flanks, main deck and hardtop, while precisely fitted, lightweight resin transfer-moulded small parts have a double-sided gelcoat finish and are pre-fitted for a perfect seal when all major components are bonded together.

Riviera also only uses 316 marine grade stainless steel in all our exterior fastenings. All stainless steel rails feature ground and polished welds to ensure a consistently smooth and mirror finish.

Additionally, two coats of epoxy undercoat and two coats of premium quality anti-foul paint are applied to every new Riviera before it leaves our factory. We even provide an additional litre of high-quality gelcoat with your new Riviera.

Even before a single piece of timber was cut for the plug work, the 5400 was created in-house using industry-leading Unigraphics 3D computer software, allowing Riviera’s team of talented and passionate designers and engineers to put to purpose every inch of available space.

Our designers have placed a firm focus on convenient access to every key maintenance point so any issues can be quickly identified and addressed, and service costs are kept to a minimum.

Of course, this thoughtful consideration for our Riviera family of owners is a key part of our ethos of doing all we can to help our valued owners achieve … ‘the ultimate boating experience’.
