Silverado Boat | 31' Custom 2009

Silverado is a dream come true, a 31 ft. Custom Aluminum Motorsailer with Pilothouse.

She took the better part of 8 years to complete and 20,000 hours; however, the finished product is a vessel unparalleled in her class.

She is powered by a Beta 38 with two stainless steel Porsche mufflers and fuel polishing system.  In addition, she has Raymarine electronics, AIS touchscreen, Generator, Inverter, Watermaker, Cabin heat, Propane Stove, Memory foam custom mattress, Airhead composting toilet and much more.

The charming beadboard interior accented with Sonoran Mesquite is a wonderful contrast to the rugged Aluminum exterior.  A well designed compact Salon and Galley comfortable for two.

Special features on deck include 2 Harken Roller Furlers, Mack Sails, 4 Anchors with 270 ft. chain, Lighthouse Windlass and 3 blade Autostream variable pitch prop.

This TURNKEY package is complete with 2021 Achilles HB-270 AL "Hypalon" Dinghy.

Please call to arrange viewing at SEA Marine, Port Townsend.

Silverado's Story

My connection with SILVERADO began in the late 80’s with my first reading of the classic “Sailing Alone Around The World” by Joshua Slocum. I had recently been introduced to the sea through scuba diving and was totally hooked on all things involving the ocean. This ultimately lead to my decision to build my own boat...a decision which was met with much healthy skepticism among family and friends...skepticism which only grew as the years passed and I talked and talked and talked but never actually started building! But these years were not wasted. I spent them educating myself about sailing and boat building. I defined the type of boat I wanted, based on the type of sailing I had in mind. I acquired the necessary tools and skills I would need, and in October of 2001 I was ready! I was fortunate to find a shop 5 minutes from my home which I advised the owner I would need for 2-3 years. Eight wonderful years later SILVERADO exited this shop and was trucked to San Carlos Mx. where she splashed on November 7, 2009!!

After 5 years cruising in the Sea of Cortez, I was ready to put my building skills to the ultimate test. In April, 2014 I departed from Cabo San Lucas, Mx. for a singlehanded 25 day voyage to Hawaii. This was a wonderful cruise but was not a serious test of SILVERADO’s capabilities... this would come on the second leg of my voyage, a 30 day singlehanded sail which gave both man and boat a serious workout as we sailed north from Kawaii headed for Sitka, AK. During several severe storms I never had a thought that I was in any danger...I knew that every weld was done correctly...no shortcuts, and all materials were the best I could find. *This adventure was captured live on a daily blog that I used to keep family and friends informed of my progress. The following is a link to this blog: www.sailblogs.com/member/silverado The blog has a link to a photo site which has hundreds of construction photos which provides an intimate look at SILVERADO’s beginnings.

My wife, Dina and I have enjoyed 10 incredible years aboard SILVERADO...I have enjoyed a 30 year obsession with her. But...there comes a time....we are looking forward to a future of “less adventurous “ cruising with our grandchildren on a trawler as we head into our 7th and 8th decades. We are looking for an adventurous individual or couple who need to set their own path... perhaps the NW passage?? We have just the boat for you...she will take you safely anywhere you decide to go!

Regards,

Bob and Dina Millikin
