Design Narrative
Sweetie, 1999 Catalina 400 MK II: Boat Specifications and Improvements She’s a Sweetie! A great sailing boat that flies with the wind. She handles strong winds and heavy seas like a pro cutting through the waves with two optional reef points, as well as sailing sweetly in mid to light air. Dual helm stations give you the advantage to have great line of sight from port or starboard. All lines lead back to the cockpit for ease of handling the sails. Wide gunnels make for safe venturing on-deck underway and jacklines run fore and aft to clip in. Creature comforts abound to enjoy at the end of a great sail. Relax in the comfort of your enclosed cockpit or roll up the sides to embrace the breeze. Perfect for entertaining a crowd with the center cockpit table and a full complement of comfortable cockpit cushions. The salon has ample headroom for extra tall folks, a spacious galley with a lots of counter space, a large refrigerator / freezer, and a pantry storage area are ideal for long sojourns among the islands. The 3 burner propane stove and oven along with a microwave make meal prep a snap. Sitting and dining areas easily handle a crowd. The dinette converts to a double bed sleeping two, and the port settee sleeps 1. Storage abounds in the cabin with a huge lazarette under the starboard seats and another under the port side settee. Moving forward to the V-Berth you again find ample storage and a comfortable and spacious berth. After a long day on the water, enjoy a shower in the privacy of either cabin or rinse off after a swim with the cockpit shower. Pick your adventure and Sweetie will get you there. B & G chart plotter, radar, wind and Autohelm along with AIS, VHF, were all installed in 2021/22. Navigation station makes cruise planning a breeze with all the information you need to monitor your course, and conditions underway. She is decked out and ready to sail!
