This Cabo Rico 38 is a unique find on the brokerage market, with cruise-ready features in a safe, ocean-worthy hull build. Serious cruising is possible thanks to her full keel, ample capacity for fuel and fresh water, generator + A/C, recent electronics, and tough, reliable rig. Her 6’5” headroom and rich wood interior make for a comfortable cabin.
Introduced in 1977, 200 Cabo Rico 38’s were built in Costa Rica using honey-colored teak harvested from plantations in Costa Rica making for a stunning interior. Voyager is hull #177 of this proud line.
“The Cabo Rico 38 hull shape is the one in which everything came together best. Designed with a low profile to eliminate excessive freeboard, the 38 can make excellent headway in high wind conditions where reduced leeway is so critical." - Bill Crealock, Cabo Rico Designer
From the clipper bow to the moderately full stern, does indeed reveal her purpose: safe, comfortable passage-making, whether island-hopping the Caribbean or sailing around the world. The long full keel eases the steering burden on both the helmsman or wind vane/autopilot, and the low freeboard and cabin trunk minimize windage and ease the going when a slog to windward is necessary.
“From its humble beginning in a corner of the British Leland assembly plant in San Jose, Costa Rica, Cabo Rico Boats have earned the respect of cruising sailors around the world…This boat succeeds because she never pretends to be anything but what she is--a serious cruising boat for serious cruisers.” - Spinsheet Magazine

Disclosures:
Hurricane Damage - Voyager was docked at St. Andrews marina on October 10, 2018 during Hurricane Michael. As a result of the storm a portion of the mast from our neighbor’s boat fell across our headsail’s roller furling, bending a portion of the bow rail as well as the furler itself. That same boat rubbed against the port side causing damage to the cap rail as well as gouges in the gelcoat in a limited area of that port side. The starboard side of Voyager’s cap rail was also damaged by the finger pier with similar, localized, damage to the gelcoat. The chainplates on the starboard side were also damaged. The stern chainplate was twisted and the radar’s radome mounted on that backstay was damaged as well. There was no further structural damage.
There were three separate contractors hired to perform the necessary work on Voyager representing; 1) hull, 2) rigging, and 3) electronics. The hull and teak repairs were done by Boatwright Services, Mr. Win Turner, LLC. Rigging was completed by Zern Rigging. Electronics work was completed by Xtreme Marine.
